Privacy Policy

Overview
Aurora is designed as a local-first macOS utility. Core app data such as clipboard history, saved clips, Quick Notes, media state, widget layout, focus history, and settings stays on your Mac unless a feature needs you to connect an external service.

Permission explanations
Information You Provide
- Purchases and licenses: When you buy Aurora Pro, Lemon Squeezy collects the checkout information needed to process payment, tax, receipts, and license delivery. Aurora uses your purchase email and license key to activate Pro, check license status, and manage registered Macs. Full license keys stay hidden on the website.
- License manager sign-in: Aurora may require Google sign-in or a one-time email link before website device management. The link is sent to the address you enter, and license details appear only when the verified email matches the purchase.
- Support messages: If you contact support or submit a website form, we receive the details you send, such as your email address, message, category, macOS version, Mac model, and Aurora version.
- Newsletter or release-note requests: If you ask to receive release updates, we use the email address you provide for that request.
Local App Data
Aurora's core features — media controls, clipboard monitoring, saved clips, Quick Notes, widgets, notifications, focus tools, and customization — operate locally on your Mac. Writing help uses Apple's on-device model when available on your Mac; Aurora does not describe or provide a cloud writing model.
Google Calendar
Google Calendar support is optional. If you connect a Google account, Aurora can show upcoming events, group calendars, and create events for the calendar features you enable.
Aurora handles calendar details locally where possible and uses Google Calendar only when you connect it. Calendar event text is not used for website analytics or advertising. You can disconnect Google Calendar in Aurora or revoke access from your Google account settings.
Website Analytics and Cookies
The website uses optional analytics to understand page views and interactions only when you allow analytics cookies. Cookie preferences can be reopened from the footer. Aurora does not collect clipboard content, media history, note text, calendar event text, license keys, payment details, or support message text for analytics.
Advertising tools load only when enabled and when you allow marketing cookies. Aurora does not use them in pricing, download, checkout, onboarding, or license flows.
Permissions
Aurora asks for permissions only when a feature needs them. Accessibility supports top-edge interaction and quick-action overlays. Automation may be needed for Spotify, Apple Music, and supported Google Chrome web playback control. Screen Recording is used only for screen-aware surfaces that require local context. Calendar access or Google sign-in is needed for calendar features. Camera or microphone permission is requested only for relevant widgets.
Third-Party Services
- Lemon Squeezy — Payment processing, tax collection and compliance, receipts, and license delivery as merchant of record for Aurora Pro purchases. Aurora does not see or store your card details.
- Resend — Delivers one-time license sign-in emails.
- Google Calendar — Optional Google account connection used only for calendar features you enable.
- Google Analytics — Optional website analytics used only when you consent.
- Google AdSense — Advertising used only where enabled and after marketing consent.
- Formspree — Website support and feedback form delivery.
Retention
License and purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide licensing, receipts, support, fraud prevention, tax, and legal compliance. Support messages are kept as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain a reasonable support history. Local Aurora app data remains on your Mac unless you delete it from the app or your device.
Access, Deletion, and Contact
You can request access to or deletion of support records and license/support records associated with your purchase email. Some purchase, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal records may need to be retained where required by law or by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record.

Children's Privacy
Aurora is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the website, the Aurora app, or the purchase email where appropriate. Continued use of Aurora after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
